Ginger & Gunner comes to us as an owner surrender, as the family dynamics have changed. They are a bonded pair, and are litter mates. They'd do best in a home without other dogs, i.e., just the 2 of them. Here's some info on each of them: Gunner is reserved when meeting new people but warms up quickly when you reassure him with the sound of kisses, he knows what they mean! He is a loyal companion who follows his people everywhere. He is very dedicated to his litter mate, Ginger, and his people. He is perfectly happy leaving his doggy siblings to lay beside the shower and wait patiently on his mom or dad. Sometimes he even peaks in the shower to check on them. He is very smart and is tennis ball, praise and food motivated. When getting praise he sits calmly and relishes the affection. He loves to learn and picks things up quickly. He knows the commands sit, come, out, yes (for quick praise), go potty (or go out) and in your bed (or go to bed). Ginger and Gunner turn 5 in May, they are each 40lbs, completely housebroken and crate trained, leash trained and cat friendly. Both dogs are great with kids and have lived with 3 children ages 7 months, 3 and 7 years old. They will sneak kisses when given the opportunity. Because of their strong bond we would like them to stay together in a home with no other dogs. Ginger is a happy go lucky girl. She loves to play with her brother but is pretty laid back about life in general. She is the “stop and smell the roses” type. She loves her belly scratched, loves all people (especially little people) and is dedicated to her littermate, Gunner. When someone gives her affection she will give you her paw so you can scratch her belly better. As she melts on to the floor she rolls over for complete belly availability. She knows the commands sit, out, get back, come (sometimes she crawls to you instead of walking), yes (for quick praise), go potty or go out, and in your bed (or go to bed). Ginger is very gentle when taking a treat and savors each bite. She responds better to hand signals and body language than voice but understands her basic commands either way. She loves to smile!
